Food and Farming Science

Tuesday’s Food and Farming Science class is only for students in our “survive” 8 week program. Get your hands dirty at eNDVR’s garden. Learn about canning and food preservation. Understand where your food comes from! In addition to giving students real world skills, this class will delve into the science behind what we eat. Students will tour the Good Food Store and other local food producers/distributors to learn how economy and geography affect our diets. eNDVR’s “survive” students will study age appropriate topics in biology, ecology, chemistry, history and math that relate to food science, preservation and distribution.

Tuesday’s Survival Skills class is only for students in our “survive” 8 week program. Students will learn the basic skills necessary to survive in the wilderness. Topics will be based on student interest and could include: fire building, shelter building, finding water, finding food, hunting and trapping, and making clothing. Students in our survival skills class will build self esteem as they gain the ability to care for themselves in survival situations.
