This more advanced class takes The Mystery Hour to a whole new dimension! Join in as we discuss, explore, create and critique the world around us, all while unraveling a variety of mysteries. Whether you are a reluctant reader and writer or a passionate fan of both, you’ll find this class to be both intriguing and thought-provoking. As a group, we’ll use literature and creative writing to explore current as well as historical events, cultural differences and media influence. We’ll delve into a variety of genre areas with the focus being on classic mysteries, science fiction, poetry, mythology and a bit of watered down horror. Weekly topics will relate to student interests as well as each current eNDVR theme- Survive, Express, Innovate and Connect. Participants are encouraged to bring in personal favorites: books, poems, movie titles, writing samples and even project ideas! Come join in on the fun and take the challenge; I DARE you to survive!
Note: This is a perfect class for home school teens who wish to expand their critical thinking skills, while earning humanities credit. The course counts toward high school transcript credit in the areas of literature, creative writing, history, government, geography, economics and sociology.
