Friday field trips are lead by Elaine Anderson-Wood and Nikki Shaffer. Elaine is a certified tour guide (and teacher) with the state of Montana. Nikki has a degree in history from the U of M and has studied military science. Both are teaching additional history-related classes at eNDVR and truly enjoy making history “come alive” for participants of all ages!
Weekly trips will relate to eNDVR’s current semester theme with a focus on history, nature and/or community service projects. Parents are welcome to join or use the drop-off option for children ages 6-18. Participants will receive a packet with directions and fun field trip facts upon departure. Trips will run from 9:30-3:30 unless otherwise noted.
To cover administrative fees, the cost of each trip is $10.00/family (ages 5-adult) ($5.00 for members). Drop-off is $48.00 ($30.00 for members) for any student whom is not accompanied by an adult (must be at least 6 years old). Any additional entrance or material fee costs will be listed for you when you sign up on-line. If you have questions regarding on-line sign up or fees, please contact Jacey Hermann who is in charge of listing eNDVR field trips!
Let us know in advance whether you plan to take your own vehicle, wish to car pool from eNDVR, or wish to reserve space in Elaine’s van (10 seats available). You should bring lunch, snacks and layered clothing since Montana’s weather is unpredictable. Cameras, field guides, binoculars, collecting jars and sketch pads are always great additions.
Join us at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation visitor center as we explore the interactive exhibits, many kid-friendly, that tell the story of elk and their habitat! A tour guide will also take us along the nearby nature trail!
