Equine Adventure at Blue Mountain B&B
June 1, 2015 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Did you know that there are certain farm animals on either the threatened or endangered species list? Learn more about why this is the case on our field trip to visit two Mammoth donkeys named Hank and Farley. You’ll also see a fairly uncommon horse called the Norwegian Fjord, which is now famous because of its starring role in the Disney movie, “Frozen.” You may have actually ridden on a Fjord horse without knowing it since Missoula’s Carousel has two carved Fjords to enjoy.
This field trip is open to all ages and will include some forest adventure time as well. Before actually visiting the equines, we’ll have a picnic lunch and scavenger hunt in a beautiful wooded area. After that, we’ll visit the donkeys, horse and mules. The field trip will wrap-up at the horse barn around 2:00.
You can meet at eNDVR and car pool at 11:30. Otherwise, you can go directly to the Blue Mountain Bed and Breakfast turn off. We’ll meet at the picnic area at 12:00. Basic Directions: Travel south, toward Lolo and drive on passed the Blue Mountain Rec. Area/Peak Fitness center’s stop light. Continue south until you see the Blue Mountain B&B sign off to the right in the horse field. Continue on up the road toward the B&B, just follow the signs. You will go under an archway (6980 Deadman Gulch Rd.) and up a dirt road. Stop and park at the corner where the old covered wagon sits. Please wear shoes that are comfortable (open-toed sandals are not a good choice). You may wish to apply some sun screen before coming. Make sure you have a coat and hat since Montana’s weather often brings surprises.
Remember to use a restroom before coming on the trip. There is a bathroom near the horse barn for emergency situations, but it won’t be readily available, especially while we picnic.
